SAN MATEO, Calif. – Dec. 9, 2015 – http://www.sonimtech.com/us.html today announced the addition of Major Ryan Burchnell (ret.) to its Public Safety Advisory Council, which was formed to ensure that first responders have the best communications devices, applications, services and tools required to get their jobs done quickly and reliably.
Burchnell brings a solid record of public safety experience after recently completing a 20+ year law enforcement career when he retired from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) in October. In 2010, Burchnell became a member of the FHP’s Executive Staff when he was named the director of FHP’s Office of Domestic Security and Intelligence. In 2011 he was named Chief of FHP’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence, and in 2013, he became the CTO and deputy division director of the Information Services Administration of FHP’s parent agency, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. In his role as CTO, Burchnell also served as the senior staff member assigned to FloridaNet, Florida’s FirstNet initiative, and as Senior Advisor to Florida’s FirstNet State Point of Contact (SPOC).
“Major Burchnell brings field experience as well as technological expertise to the table,” said Sonim CEO Bob Plaschke. “This combination of skills is invaluable as he knows firsthand what it will take to effectively support public safety officials and first responders in any given situation.”
