SAN MATEO, Calif. – Jan. 26, 2016 – Today, http://www.sonimtech.com welcomed two new members to its growing Public Safety Advisory Council (PSAC). The PSAC, which provides strategic guidance to senior Sonim executives and Sonim’s Public Safety Advisory Board on important public safety directives, will gain valuable law enforcement and wildland fire expertise with the addition of John Flynn and Bob Roper.
John Flynn is the Executive Vice President for the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), which represents almost 250,000 sworn law enforcement officers from hundreds of police unions and associations. In his role as Executive Vice President, Mr. Flynn serves on a number of NAPO committees, and helps to plan and coordinate the legislative priorities of the organization. Mr. Flynn also serves as Manhattan’s south trustee for the New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, which represents over 50,000 active and retired members in all matters pertaining to their employment with the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
Bob Roper brings more than 35 years of experience as a fire professional to the PSAC. He worked himself up the ranks from Volunteer Firefighter to Fire Chief for the Ventura County Fire Department in Ventura, Calif. In the 15 years he served as Fire Chief, Mr. Roper provided strategic direction for the department, which included the creation of both a regional fire service delivery model and wildland fire protection model for the county. Mr. Roper has also served as Chair of the International Association of Fire Chiefs - Wildland Fire Policy Committee for the past seven years, where he worked on national wildland fire issues.
“We are pleased that John and Bob have agreed to join Sonim’s Public Safety Advisory Council,” said Sonim CEO Bob Plaschke. “The upcoming year is shaping up to be an incredibly important one for the public safety community. Between the release of the FirstNet RFP, and the introduction of a Sonim XP7 smartphone capable of operating on key domestic carrier networks as well as FirstNet’s Band Class 14 spectrum, today’s first responders are closer than ever to realizing the full potential of public safety broadband.”
